Audio Book Cd

There are two possible methods which are used for recording a book onto a cd. The one is known as an abridged version and the other is referred to as unabridged. There is a great difference between an audio book cd that has been abridged as versus unabridged. Abridged means nothing other than that a book, lesson, or other recording which has been recorded to a cd has been shortened somehow. This shortening of a book can be done by summarizing, condensing, abbreviating or cutting out certain unnecessary parts.

There are several major companies that offer book recording on a CD, and when one looks through the list of available recordings, it is apparent that many of the titles are in an abridged form.

On the other hand, there are also many audio book cd titles which have not been shortened or reduced in size, and these are then referred to as unabridged book versions. An unabridged audio cd contains a word for word reading of the work that is being recording. These versions can be very long, but many still prefer not to miss out on anything.

As already mentioned, there are more and more companies that specialize in selling recordings as an audio book cd. Over the last few years, this media and method of distributing a book, regardless of whether it has to do with a story, educational theme or contains speeches, has increased in popularity. As of today, the printed book is still preferred by the consumer over the audio book cd, however there are many signs that show the probability of this changing in the near future.

For one, there are large number of consumers who own digital media such as mp3 players, portable cd players or ipods, and this would make it convenient for them to listen to a book instead of reading it. The fact that the printed version is still the first choice is most likely due to the higher price of buying an audio book cd. An audio book is usually priced somewhere between the cost of a hardcover and soft cover book, and it just happens to be a fact that the soft cover book is the best value out of all the options.

One advantage of a recorded book saved to a CD over its printed counterpart, is that one can follow the book without having to actually do the reading. This is especially advantageous if one is very busy and would like to do other things, such as cooking or housecleaning, at the same time as listen to the book. It has even been said that common literary knowledge in the folk has increased once again over the last few years and that this success can be lead back to the increased usage of recorded books by the population.
